Transparency in Coverage

Machine-readable files.

In compliance with the federal Transparency in Coverage rule, CGS Health makes machine-readable files (MRFs) of negotiated in-network rates and out-of-network allowed amounts publicly available. The files are hosted by each plan's network and are updated monthly.

About these files

What is an MRF?

Machine-readable files (MRFs) are large, structured data files — formatted for software and researchers, not for everyday reading. Two file types are published:

  • In-network rates — negotiated rates for covered items and services between the plan and in-network providers.
  • Out-of-network allowed amounts — historical allowed amounts and billed charges for covered items and services from out-of-network providers.

The files are published in the federally required JSON format and refreshed monthly. They are made available without a login, fee, or other condition, as required by the Transparency in Coverage rule.

Looking for your own costs? If you're a member trying to understand a specific bill, copay, or deductible, the MRFs aren't the easiest tool — log in to your member portal or call Member Services at (844) 515-7095 and we'll help directly.
